Peer violence can take many forms. It is impossible for all to cover in typologies of peer violence. Here is the list of the most common ones and most current forms:
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
biting, kicking, pushing, shoving, hair pulling, spitting, scratching, boxing, punching, slapping and other forms of physical assault, physical injury
SEXUAL VIOLENCE
sexual innuendo and jokes with sexual jokes, obscene gesticulations and language, harassment for gender-based harassment, incitement to sex, displaying pornographic sexual material, groping, stalking, sexual assault
MATERIAL VIOLENCE
extortion or forcible deprivation of money or other property, damage or destruction personal property and school supplies, taking and using the telephone
ONLINE VIOLENCE
deliberate and repeated harassment and/or intimidation through Internet, mobile phones and other information and communication technologies, such as sending abusive messages, sending or posting harmful, untrue or cruel statements, posting sensitive, private information (e.g. private messages or photographs), sending posting or publishing doctored photographs on offensive manner, appropriating another’s identity with the intent to embarrass or harm, defamation in forums, blogs or social networking sites, exclusion from online communities or groups of friends, recording violent or otherwise inappropriate videos (e.g. school fights), and distributing and publishing these videos online, sending threatening messages with intimidation and blackmail
PSYCHOLOGICAL VIOLENCE
PSYCHOLOGICAL – VERBAL VIOLENCE:
insulting, shaming, taunting, belittling, insulting on the phone, name-calling, racist remarks, passing, spreading false and malicious rumours, contempt, teasing, threats
PSYCHOLOGICAL – NON-VERBAL VIOLENCE:
Direct: facial expressions, rude gestures, contemptuous gestures
Indirect: manipulation/destruction friendship, systematic exclusion, ignoring, isolating, sending (often anonymous) poisonous remarks, tolerating silence as a means of pressure
